My art is inspired by the stories passed down from my grandparents. I like painting country. Before I joined Marnin Studio, I painted a large canvas that told the story of my grandmother’s country. My grandfather left his home in the Great Sandy Desert in search of a better life. Other family members were working at Christmas Creek Station, so he decided to join them, bringing my mum and her sister to Balgo and then to Christmas Creek Station.
I was born in Derby Hospital in 1972 and grew up in Fitzroy Crossing. As an adult, I returned to Wangkatjungka and lived there with my family.
In 2014, I decided to join the women at Marnin Studio. It has been a good way to keep me out of trouble while relaxing my mind through art. I also enjoy learning new crafts, such as ceramics, and finding new ways to share stories through my art.
