Barrangga Camp on Gooniyandi Country

On Gooniyandi Country, near Guleru Gorge, Marnin Studio and Bigiswun came together to host the Barrangga Seasons Change, Knowledge Remains camp. It was a creative and cultural experience that brought young women together to connect, and capture stories through photography.
We were honoured to be welcomed to Country by Traditional Owner Marion Dolby and her family, who shared the space and its significance with us. The camp was supported by Sarah from Camera Story, who facilitated workshops in storytelling and DSLR photography.
The young women spent the days documenting camp life, from driving to the river and preparing bush turkey for lunch, to throwing nets for cherabun and relaxing in Guleru Gorge. As the sun set, they explored night photography, creating portrait images that reflected their creativity and growing confidence behind the lens.
The camp wasn’t just about photography, it was about working together, combining knowledge, and building confidence. Seeing the young women take control of their cameras and tell stories through their own eyes was a proud moment for the teams from Marninwarntikura.
It was a powerful reminder that while seasons change, knowledge remains and with the right tools and opportunities, our young women continue to carry stories forward in new and inspiring ways.
