Kimberley Aboriginal Fashion Textile and Art Runway 2025
Share
One year ago, we stepped onto the Kimberley Aboriginal Fashion, Textiles and Art (KAFTA) Runway with just three garments. This year, we returned with a full collection.
Our designs are inspired by the wet and dry seasons of the Fitzroy Valley. From blooming mulla mulla and roaming wallabies to landscapes shaped by rain and dry times, each piece tells a story of place, season, and spirit.
Every garment begins with a sketch and is brought to life using hand-carved lino blocks, which create bold, meaningful prints on 100% linen. Chosen for its breathability, comfort, and harmony with the Kimberley climate.
Through this collection, we created more than clothing. We shared stories of Country, of the Martuwarra, and of the cycles that shape our lives. Each piece is a cultural expression, a step toward healing and empowerment through art. By wearing these stories, we make space for a future where women’s voices and traditions thrive.
Being at KAFTA feels like coming home - surrounded by family, friends, and community. Every face carries warmth, every conversation inspires, and every moment adds to a shared journey.
Each year, we gather not just to celebrate our work, but to uplift one another, grow stronger as a community, and deepen the bonds that tie us together.
