In the world of Marnin Studio, April is marked by the hustle and bustle of Revealed, a Perth exhibition of established and emerging Aboriginal artists from Western Australia organised by AACHWA. We were fortunate enough to have 7 of our artists (listed below) selected to exhibit their pit-fired ceramics, created in a workshop facilitated by Tanya Lee.

Each piece is as unique as the Country and artists who made them, marks of the land and the seasons left behind on the surface tell the story of a moment, a process, a time and place. Attending the exhibition to celebrate was exhibiting artist Nita Williams and our Arts Coordinator and studio artist, Charline Davis. 

To be surrounded by the talent and passion of so many incredible practitioners was electric. The Aboriginal Art Centre community of WA really showed its strengths in connection, support, storytelling, and empowerment. Artists in various stages of their career and all different material and cultural practices came together to celebrate one another’s unique perspectives. The proud smiles of a community supporting one another filled the room of PICA, the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, and stretched out onto the streets of Boorloo Country as artists moved between workshops and events.

Following the exhibition was the ever-anticipated Revealed Art Market, where each art centre showcased their work to the public for purchase. Marnin Studio brought painted Boab seeds, block printed cushion covers, screen printed tea towels, natural bush dye silk scarves and bespoke clothing. It was a busy day as our artists shared the stories behind their designs and connected with the people of Perth. What an amazing opportunity to connect to our wider arts community, celebrate culture and stories, and share what we do with the world.
